Holy Cow Project
Camp Judson launched the Holy Cow Project nearly two decades ago to raise additional revenue for operating expenses. Project founders envisioned a sizeable herd that would provide the camp with a steady stream of income. The sale of calves from the herd has generated nearly $500,000 since 1992.
The project's success rests on a three-way partnership among camp, donors and ranchers. Churches, families and individuals donate money toward the camp’s purchase of new cows, and ranchers feed and care for the animals.
It costs $1,000 to purchase one cow. Calves produced by these cows are sold every year, and all the proceeds benefit Camp Judson.
Today the herd is 100 strong.
